As a result of the crisis molybdenum prices experienced a sharp downturn, as did all raw materials. From a 33 dollars/lb level observed during the first 9 months of 2008, moly price fell sharply in last quarter 2008 to 9,5 dollars/lb in December 2008 and reached a bottom of 7,8 dollars/lb in April 2009; since then gradually recovered and by August 2009 the price of molybdenum reached 18 dollars /lb, doubling the level seen in the second quarter 2009; however it fell again to 11 dollars/lb by mid November 2009.
Are we going to see prices back to 25-35 dollars/lb level as typically seen in 2004-2008? What is happening with stocks? What can we expect in terms of the evolution of molybdenum production and consumption in China? How have prospects changed for the primary Western projects?
In the 2009 version of Moly Market Outlook: Near-Medium Term, MolyExp carries out a detailed investigation of the 2010-2017 prospects for this promising metal.
